Bone Broth Is Your Friend

In every soup I make, it starts out with the building block of bone broth made from scratch in my kitchen! This is likely the healthiest and tastiest part of the soup altogether. It’s simple; put some bones(beef, pork, or chicken) into a pot of water and simmer for 24-48 hours. Add 1/4 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar when you put in the bones. It takes less than 5 minutes to get it going and then a day or two later you have bone broth, a health superstar!! To read about the benefits of bone broth, click the link!

Flour Substitutes

Wheat flour is out of the shadows nowadays, it is unhealthy. And yet..so many people eat foods with wheat flour. Whether out of ignorance or a lack of caring, wheat flour is still at large. These are some healthy and easy-to-make substitutes that can be used as flour in your favorite recipes!

Almond Flour

Grind up some almonds in a blender, simple! You can choose to sprout the almonds before for enhanced flavor and nutrition.

Coconut Flour

Bone Sooooup

Homeade broth is the best way to go when making soup! For the soup today I simmered pig feet in a pot with water 2/3 full and 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar for 24 hours. Then, I drained the bones and added my potatoes and beets first, then my meat(pork neck bones!) and carrots and celery, and lastly the mushrooms and spices!

Spent a great morning at Whiskeytown Lake, hiked up to the waterfall at Crystal Creek with this beaut after some mango shakes and banana pancakes!

Mango Shake Recipe:

Ingredients-

  • 1 Mango
  • Ice(equal amount to mango)

Directions-

  1. Peel mango and cut around the seed
  2. Throw it all in the blender!

Banana Pancakes Recipe:

Ingredients-

  • 2 Bananas
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup of Coconut Flour
  • 1/2 cup of Almond Milk
  • Dark Chocolate Chips

Directions-

  1. Mix all ingredients except for chocolate chips
  2. Sprinkle chocolate chips once poured onto pan to cook
